I. i+1 Media Engine Architecture

(Language-Agnostic, ACP-Compliant)

This is not a content library.

It is a difficulty-governed input substrate that feeds Arena.

1. Core Design Principle

Arena does not create proficiency.
Input + Retrieval create proficiency.
Arena stress-tests it.

Therefore:

MediaEngine → Retrieval → Arena
Not Arena → vibes → self-declared fluency.

2. MediaEngine Object Model

A. MediaPacket

MediaPacket {
    media_id
    language
modality (audio | video | text | mixed)
    duration_minutes
    lexical_band
    structural_band
    speech_rate_wpm
    accent_tag
    register_tag
    topic_distance_level
    comprehension_check_id
}

B. Difficulty Vector (The Critical Mechanism)

Each MediaPacket carries a structured difficulty vector:

DifficultyVector {
    lexical_density_score
    unfamiliar_token_ratio
    clause_complexity_score
    speech_rate_ratio (relative to baseline)
    discourse_implicitness_score
    register_shift_score
}

This prevents:

  • Random difficulty jumps
  • Fake i+1 labeling
  • Instructor discretion drift

3. i+1 Qualification Logic

i+1 is not “harder than before.”

It is:

i+1 if:
    80–92% lexical coverage
    +1 structural complexity band
    manageable speech_rate_delta
no more than one high-burden axis at once

For Chinese:

  • Cannot escalate tone density and speech rate and lexical density simultaneously.

For Arabic:

  • Cannot escalate dialect shift and abstract register simultaneously.

For Japanese:

  • Cannot escalate kanji density and discourse implicitness simultaneously.

4. Band System (Shared Across Languages)

Define 6 difficulty bands:

BandEquivalentTarget Skill
B0NoviceSurvival
B1Intermediate LowTransactional
B2Intermediate MidNarrative
B3Intermediate HighAbstract Intro
B4Advanced LowCivic/Policy
B5Advanced Mid+Adversarial/Press

MediaPackets tagged B0–B5.

Advancement requires:

  • Sustained comprehension at 85%+ for current band
  • Retrieval durability for lexical band
  • Speaking minutes compliance

5. MediaPacket Flow (Weekly Cycle)

1. Assign MediaPacket
2. Run ComprehensionCheck
3. Log lexical unknown cluster
4. Generate Retrieval items
5. Verify input compliance
6. Unlock ArenaEvent

No input → No arena.

6. ComprehensionCheck Design

Not essays.
Not reflections.

Minimal:

  • 6–12 forced comprehension probes
  • 1 short oral summary (recorded)
  • 1 clarification question generated by learner

Failure threshold:

if comprehension_score < 70%:
    auto-downgrade next packet difficulty
    trigger microcycle

7. Retrieval Engine Integration

MediaEngine outputs:

  • lexical targets
  • structural targets
  • phonological targets

These auto-seed RetrievalSchedule.

No manual curation required once difficulty vector is stable.

8. Stress Axis System

Each week designates one stress axis:

  • Speed stress
  • Register stress
  • Implicit meaning stress
  • Accent stress
  • Lexical density stress

Never more than one high-stress axis per packet.

Prevents overload collapse (critical for Chinese, Arabic, Japanese).

9. Data Feedback Loop

MediaEngine continuously recalibrates based on:

  • Comprehension scores
  • RepairLog clusters
  • Speaking breakdown tags
  • Retrieval failure clusters

Difficulty escalation is gated by:

if retrieval_success_rate >= 85%
and comprehension >= 85%
and speaking_minutes >= threshold:
    allow +1 band stress
else:
    maintain or repair

II. Phase 5 Docking Harness Integration

(Multi-Aalam, Multi-Language Coordination)

Now we attach this to ACP architecture.

1. Module Identity

LanguageModule registers with Docking Harness (DH) as:

ModuleType: ACPLanguageKernel
Version: v0
Capabilities:
    MediaPacketGeneration
    RetrievalSeeding
    ArenaAuthorization
    RepairLogEmission

2. Aalam Variant Roles

In Phase 5, you will have multiple Aalam variants.

Assign roles structurally:

Aalam-Input

  • Curates MediaPackets
  • Computes DifficultyVector
  • Ensures i+1 compliance

No authority to advance learner.

Aalam-Retrieval

  • Seeds and manages RetrievalSchedule
  • Detects plateau clusters
  • Issues Microcycle patches

Cannot authorize Arena.

Aalam-Arena

  • Executes Consularium/CountryTeam/PressEngagement
  • Generates RepairLogs
  • Tags breakdown types

Cannot override InputContract.

Aalam-Governor

  • Enforces invariants
  • Blocks advancement if thresholds unmet
  • Logs constitutional compliance

Only this variant can authorize level advancement.

3. Docking Harness Enforcement Points

A. Pre-Arena Check

if InputCompliance < 80%
or RetrievalDurability < threshold
or SpeakingMinutes < threshold:
    deny Arena escalation

B. Cross-Language Uniformity

All languages must expose:

LanguageProfile
DifficultyVector
BandMapping
StressAxisRules

No language can self-define difficulty differently.

This prevents drift.

4. Federal Layer Readiness (Level 6+)

Because:

  • DifficultyVector is structured
  • Proficiency claims are artifact-bound
  • RepairLogs are standardized

The system can later:

  • Federate across institutions
  • Negotiate equivalence across languages
  • Produce public-verifiable advancement claims

Without redesign.

5. Certification Readiness

ACP (non-profit kernel owner) can certify that:

  • A language implementation respects invariants
  • Media escalation rules are honored
  • Speaking thresholds are enforced
  • Skill balance maintained

Commonplace platform pays ACP fees.
Protocol forks must pass invariant audit.

6. What This Prevents

  • Theater arenas without substrate
  • Fake advanced designation
  • Chinese collapse via overload
  • Arabic diglossic confusion
  • Spanish plateau drift
  • Retrieval amnesia across semesters

7. Strategic Shift

Previously:
Language was content-driven.

Now:
Language is governed execution substrate.

It aligns with ACP philosophy:

  • No claim without proof.
  • No escalation without durability.
  • No scenario without input.
  • No fluency narrative without artifact-bound thresholds.
